The Old Vs The New
Reminiscing on my first photoshoots and seeing them in a new light.
So recently I’ve had a little time on my hands so I decided it would be kinda fun to go back and really see how far i’ve come.
Day by day, you really don’t see much change until one day you really look back to see for yourself.
So let’s go on this journey together!
One of my first photoshoots that I charged someone for was with Emily for her senior portraits. We were in band together and so I was really excited when her and her mother reached out to do pictures with me.
I had recently done this online course that taught me all the ins and outs on how I could go into this photoshoot. The course had taught me that a light and airy vibe was the best. Turn that exposure to its limit!
So not really knowing much of a difference, I went for it and at the time I really loved the way it looked. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE these photos. But to grow, I have to be a little critical of myself.
My biggest critique is myself, trust me..
But without further-ado, let’s look at an example:

Now while I do love this style of photography. I couldn’t help but think over time that it wasn’t what felt like me.
I continued to learn and study. Do the things that felt right and truly develop a style of my own (which I am still tinkering to this day).
So after going back, here is the present day edit on the same photo!

Now that’s what I’m talking about!
I love the cinematic and moody feeling in my new style. Embracing the darkness but bringing definition and clarity. And those rich greens!!
So there’s the before and after in their full glory. There is much more to learn and I can’t wait to one day come back to this topic.
Uniquely yours,
